Many people ask why there isn't just a price list for pallets? There are several reasons for this and I'll explain a bit here. There are several questions that need to be answered to fully determine your pallet quotes. True, some businesses can use pretty much any pallets and size doesn't even really matter to them. Other companies have very strict and precise needs such as :
- Number of stringers ( The side boards that support the top and bottom deck boards)
- Number of Runners ( Similar to Stringers but on Inside instead of edges
- Length
- Width
- Width of Top Lead Board (1st and Last Board on the Pallet Top/Bottom Deck
- Width of Top Boards
- Number of Top Boards
- Number of Bottom Boards
- Thickness of Top / Bottom Boards
- Thickness of Runners (Normally 1" to 4")
- Thickness of Stringers (Normally 1" to 4")
- Number of Nails Per Top Board
- Blocks / Instead of Stringers
- Heavy Duty (For very heavy Materials)
- Heat Treated (Usually for products shipped overseas)
- Plywood Top
- 2 Way (The number of ways a Forklift Pallet Jack enters to pick up, 2 Way means only from the Front and Back)
- 4 Way (The number of ways a Forklift Pallet Jack enters to pick up, 4 Way means from both sides and Front and Back)
- Wrong Way
- Opening Height (Opening height for Forklift/Pallet jack to enter to pick up.)
- Overall Height (Height from bottom deck board to top deck board)
- Standard or Narrow Pallet Jack Opening
- Winged Top/Bottom Boards (Deck Boards hang over Stringer by approximately 1 inch)
- Flush Mounted Top/Bottom Boards (Deck Boards are mounted flush with Stringers)
- Type of Wood (Pine or Hardwoods)
I hope this helps you see why there isn't just a simple price for pallets, as you can now see, there are many variables that go into the equation of pallet quotes.
